Oromia and Somali regional governments have reached an agreement over disputed territories. According to our sources, President Lemma Megersa of Oromia and President Abdi Mohamoud Omar signed the memorandum of agreement at the attendance of the Minister for Federal Affairs and Development of Pastoral Areas, Mr. Kassa Tekleberhan.
Based on the agreement, from the 420 contested qebeles, 340 will be administered by Oromia while the rest will go to Somali region. Furthermore, the demarcation is expected to be concluded and made public within three months.
