London, Abbay Media; A farewell dinner reception was held on 30 November for W/t Birtukan Midekssa, UDJP chairwoman and Ato Akilu Girgire, the Executive Committee Member and Head of planning and Strategy of the Unity for Democracy and Justice Party (UDJP), who have been on working visits to 6 European cities from 07/11/208 to 30/11/2008. This European tour was the first UDJP tour since it was established on 18th June 2008. Despite baseless rumours regarding the preceding of their tour, Ethiopians across Europe greeted and took part in the planned public meetings in major European cities.

Guests at the dinner reception were keen to meet the charismatic leader W/t Birtukan Midekssa and enjoyed the opportunity to have an informal discussion on the direction and challenges of the Party. The guests pledged their support to the effort of the Party in promoting the cause of freedom and democracy in Ethiopia. 
In addition to the financial contribution made by all the guests through private envelopes, a fierce auction was held for a T-shirt which had W/t Birtukan’s picture and signature, which the final bidder closing the bid when the price reached $5,000. The delegation will travel back to Ethiopia, to carry out their promises in the coming days.
