Ethiopians protest against Meles at London’s G20 Summit

Re-posted 6th April 2009

Video of London’s Ethiopian G20 protest and interviews.

Posted 3rd April 2009

Abbay Media | London;
Patriotic Ethiopians from UK, Sweden, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland and the US protested during the G20 summit in London against the attendance of Genocideer Meles Zenawi on Thursday, 2 April 2009. They demanded the G-20 countries to stop financing the brutal dictatorship in Ethiopia. The Ethiopian peaceful protesters were the biggest and most visible outside the G20 Summit. For the first time in the struggle for Freedom and Democracy in Ethiopia, the protesters got large media coverage by all Western media outlets such as the BBC, VOA, CNN, Sky, ABC, CBC, German Radio, Bloomsberg, and many other European and Arab medias.

(Videos and audios of the international media coverages are available below)

Below is a picture reportage of the successful 2nd April’s London protest;

Genocideer Meles Zenawi sinking into his seat like a deflated balloon.

Genocideer Meles not used seeing any Ethiopians on the street except his Agazzi army when he travels in his car, looked visibly shocked to the unexpected close proximity to the hyper Ethiopian protesters. He had a good look at the type of slogans and banners which were displayed for all International medias and World leaders to see. The 2nd of April was a date which Genocideer Meles’s naked brutality, crime against humanity, repression, torture and massacres were exposed on the world stage.

World leaders outside the G20 Summit getting an insight of the plight of the Ethiopian people.

Watch and listen below of the International Media coverage of the Ethiopian protest.

On the same day, Ethiopians in the US held a similar protest in San Fransisco outside the British Consulate in protest of the attendance of Genocideer Meles Zenawi on the G20 Summit.

Thank you Abby Media for the beautiful pictures. Pictures speak louder than words. What a shame for Ethiopian dictator when world leaders are watching what the demonstrators are crying for.

Time for TPLF to make major changes in Ethiopia today not tomorrow because it will be late. The dying regime in Ethiopia is trying to get some oxygen by begging IMF for more funds so he can feed his agazi army and the informers.

Melese is one arrogant person who belives he is always right. When TPLF is under such a leader, it will never make peace with Ethiopian people. Let’s hope for better that TPLF under new leadrship became one of the many political parties for new Ethiopia.

Woyane PM Meles has failed the whole of Africa! Read below:

    Source: (http://blackstarnews.com/?c=135&a=5530)

Although Meles Zenawi the Ethiopian Prime Minister and also current NEPAD chair was here, he abruptly cancelled a press conference he was about to give. His people gave no reasons for this. But insiders in the press centre said Zenawi was worried about the kind of questions that were going to be put to him concerning human rights violations within Ethiopia and his dealing with his opponents and Ethiopia’s neighbours.

Indeed, it was rather absurd that no representative of the African continent was at hand to put their case to the world media at such a major global setting.

What a shame! Shame on you Meles. To save your face you failed Africa!

The best part of this demo was, IMO, that Ethiopians of different political affiliation came to this event to oppose Meles the tyrant. As big and diverse as Ethiopia is, we do not expect or for that matter encourage everone to agree on everything(otherwise we can’t have democracy without opposing views.) However, we can come together to a common goal of the wellbeing of our country. One such cause is the respect of human rights. Some immature politician wannabees advocate the exclusion of OLF, ONLF or other organizations with radical aims such as secession. The more you exclude them the more you help them reach their goals. As simple as that. We should be thrilled if they are willing to discuss the issues and participate with us, at least on common issues. This demonstration was a victory in that regard. Of course, some woyane agents will tell you that because Oromos stood with us to protest against Meles Zenawi, then that should be considered bad. Believe them if your reasoning is really that bad. Otherwise, it is a great achievement for all Ethiopians. Ethiopiawinet exists after all, even after so much assault by this brutal dictator for the last two decades. Finally on the protest of Ethiopians yesterday, I don’t have enough words to describe how proud I am of all Ethiopians in Europe. The expression on the face of the G20 leaders passing by you guys says it all. I am sure, most of them were uncomfortable sitting in the same room with this dictator afterwards. As Abaymedia has noted correctly, probably, this is the first time in a long time this butcher has seen Ethiopians protesting. We live in a free world, Mr Dictator. We have the freedom to pursue you where ever you go and deliver justice to you. We are smart enough to understand that our people will only get out of the bondage of poverity, backwardness and other ills if they are free. You are between our people and freedom.

Only God knows! The people of Ethiopia I
think they are hungry they don’t have food to eat. But some of them even their dogs have meat. Most of the Ethiopian people they have a coin a day the others Ethiopians have deposit money in UK. One of them is Melese, very rich. Eighteen years ago he came to power with his poor wife, Azeb;but now only twelve million people are starving? On behalf of his family and friends????
He was in UK for G20 summit. The truth was not to join the summit, instead to take pictures with other countries leaders. Some days ago Brown invited him personally (to keep Belier promise) to tell him a bad news after being representative for Africa. “I know you are…but I can’t tell you the reason why you will not come to the summit. But if you shut your mouth you can pictures with leaders, please be gentle.”
When he arrived they gave him a sit, alone at the back. He was confused by what it was happened. He didn’t know what the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, investigation ordered.
Even he didn’t believe he is a Dictator, because all dictators have the same mind, which is evil and brutal. One of their best enemy is Democracy. All dictators have the
Same kind of defeat by the people, Death!!!

    Abba Jaffar,

The OLF and ONLF is the most confused people of all. How can you preach saying if you don’t support their belief in their secession you are supporting more of the break up of Ethiopia. That is a threat you are talking about. What does Liberation Front mean? Eritrea with EPLF/ELF was a liberation front and succeeded in breaking up Ethiopia, so what is the point of supporting OLF and ONLF so that they break up Ethiopia? Is that the suggestion? Unless they denounce the Liberation Front and change it to for example Oromo Rights Group, or Ogaden National for Democracy etc.. These LFs core belief is to break apart Ethiopia, so you can’t negotiate with such belief and majority Ethiopians do not support. Ethiopians of course protest for oppression of the Oromo and Ogaden people but not ONLF and OLF groups. So, if they have their own flag, they should be away from the protesters holding Ethiopian flag and protest if they want.

In fact the non violent peace movement that is doing now for the Oromos and Ogaden people are ALL Ethiopians. Do you see how numbers make a difference? I don’t even see the intensity of the ONLF and OLF. Those struggling for Oromos and Ogadens in Diaspora are ALL Ethiopians. ONLF and OLF just bluff with military. The military eventhough it is against TPLF this military is also against Ethiopians so how can you say to support people that are going to destroy the very people who are standing for Ogaden and Oromo people?

Overall, I am proud of our people holding the Ethiopian flag!! This is our movement let us gain strength. However I heard Weyane is going to organize campaign against the Diaspora: such as targeting the families of the protesters in Ethiopia, perhaps abuse Birtukan, etc.

If you notice, he looked depressed all the time throughout the summit because the Diaspora had embarrassed him.

Aye endihu dikem yalew sew. Choho, choho bedereku wedebet memeles new. Aye Amel, koshasha Amel. Min yalew metfo limad new. Woof, Woof ….Woof…………..18 Amet mulu.

Hey guys let me give you a bit of advice. If you such an energy to go out enmass and bark all the day long, why don’t you curb your anger and try to be part of the history transfroming our country for the better. Our country is progressing in the right direction please come and join us you better do something meaningful and fruitfull don’t just waste your energies in every westeren streets. I am telling you are missing out from the nation building the Ethiopian Government has been executing for years now. What is the point of shouting so hysterically, the end result has been.. as you know … the more you shout the more the western leaders are granting more money and support to Meles zenawi. The more you bark…the higher the premiere has been raised into an international figure.

The more silly things you do ….the more honour has been bestowed upon our prime minister. What kind of loosers you are! A real morons …who have been doing the same ritual for years and years and years…. and would never learn anything at all. Please wake up, be human and do yourselves a big favour by saving big embarrassement every time you take to the streets of the western countries.

Satenaw weyane tell us what is the progress in ethiopia. Is it the ports we lost you call progress or the ethnic division we have you call progress. Is it the 6.2 million hungry people you call progress or the opposition leader jailed with false accusation you call progress. Where are the free presses these days and where are the voice of unity.

I have an avise for your masters. Don’t try to run Ethiopia like a police state. Ethiopians who were against shabia in the past, now asking president Esayas Afowerki for help thanks to TPLF’s power greed. Tell your masters that they are pushing Ethiopian to side shabia because of the mistreatment our people is getting from your masters.

How to improve. Realise the opposition leader and others. Open the door for greater polictical reform. Abolish ethnic federalism “killele”, scrape the so called article 39 unit 1 ‘Eskemegentel”.

    Peace,

They ( LFs) exist for a reason and they are not imaginary. Whether small or large, they still have a constituent that supports their idea and indeed they are Ethiopians. So what do you do?. To me there are two options: listen and accommodate their grievances and try to work out some assurances and guidelines so that their grievances can be met or go for the tested and the usual and familiar road of dismissing them as nuisance and anti-Ethiopian unity and we know where that will lead us.

The Ethiopian political culture never had a room for compromise and accommodation of others’ grievances. We always went to the destructive option of trying to solve all our political ills through oppression and barrel of the gun. The end product?. Loss of Eritrea and the rise to the power by the likes of TPLF and their frontman, Meles Zenawi and we still have a number of LFs. Hardly an achieve to be proud of. It pays off to listen and learn from history otherwise be prepared to lose more of Ethiopia and Ethiopians which saddens me. I would rather listen and meaningfully address other Ethiopians complaints than beat empty drums and demonstrate the usual brevado and lose another chunk of my country!.

It also is wise and would certaintly bear better fruit if we refrain labelling anti-Ethiopia to every Ethiopian who feels alienated and opposes the regime of the day in whatever way they see fit for their oppsition. “You are either with us or against us” notion might work for awhile but never lasts for ever and we need permanent solution for Ethiopia’s political problems so that we can have time, energy, and resources for development and lift millions of Ethiopians from the abject poverty that we endured for so long.

If we expect all Ethiopians to have ONE view of Ethiopia, then we are more akin to industrially manufactured objects than real human being. Human beings are known and in fact are expected to have different view points.

I hope we will learn that dissenting views are not equalled to anti-Ethiopian or un-Ethiopianness. Let us learn a little.

I am shocked to see this crack head, shameless Melese to see him among so called G-20 leaders. I thought this leaders support democrated world. Man this is sad for me. I honestly was enjoying Obama’s presentation all that but this genesider Meles make it look like a genocide committee. I hope they will never invite this shameless, country destroyer, country seller to this kind of distinguished placed. This is like disrespecting and insult for those Ethiopian people who died for free democratic world.

How could he represent My Country while he divided, sell it and put the map with the few tribal region or tribal map while dismissing the majority of Ethiopians who are more than 80 tribes living out side the country. The destroyer Melese is in G-20 WoW. I am shamed with this so Called G-20. Even though our world is complex and complicated, it is easy to say no and to take action to those who genocide and murder innecent people for expressing their view. I am very proud to those who participate in this demonstration. I hope we will come together as we use to be as one. We shall not be full with this deceiver and divider, Evil Meles Zenawi . Some are working with TPLF and pretending to be with the people of Ethiopia. Some have investments and other assets in Ethiopia, and tell the rest of us not to send money to our poor families, because it is part of the boycotting weyane plan. It is becoming a big debacle. WOW! BBC had a revelation even prior G20 meeting that genosidere Melese can.t represent Africa. Check BBC to see the comment Africa Have Your Say. Aiga is perching because their share will drain if Melese go like many who sold their human identity to be slave physically and mentally.

What should Africa hope from G20?

Leaders from the world’s leading economies who make up the G20 are meeting in London for a crucial summit on the current global crisis.

With only South Africa represented on the G20, Africa’s needs risk being overlooked at the meeting especially when the leaders, at their previous gathering in Washington concluded that the developing world would be largely untouched by the banking crisis.

But several African leaders, businessmen and anti-poverty campaigners believe otherwise and have called for the G20 to help insulate developing countries from a crisis not of their own making.

Should Africa expect anything from the G20 summit? Should we be anticipating a major drop in overseas funding? If so, how will your country be affected? Is it time Africa stood on its own two feet? Send us your views.

If you would like to join Africa Have Your Say to debate this topic LIVE on air on Thursday 2nd April at 1600 GMT, please include a telephone number. It will not be published. You can also send an SMS text message to +44 77 86 20 20 08.

CANCELLING AND VOIDING AMHARIC LANGUAGE IS A LOGICALLY DEMOCRATIC A MUST MOVE TO PEACEFUL AUTHENTIC DEMOCRATIC ETHIOPIA. WE CAN NOT HAVE NO MEANINGFUL LASTING DEMOCRACY WHILE MINORITY (AMHARA) CULTURE AND LANGUAGE TOWERING OVER MAJORITY (OROMOS)LANGUAGE AND CULTURE.

Let us travel to Pittsburgh for the G-20 summit on 24-25 September, to demonstrate and protest the attendance of Meles Zenawi, the prime minister and dictator ruling Ethiopia for nearly two decades, who will be there in the capacity of the representative for Africa. As you all know, Meles Zenawi and the current Ethiopian regime has been responsible for unspeakable atrocities against masses of innocent civilians in many parts of Ethiopia, including genocide. But the international community allows him to operate with impunity because the regime is seen as a staunch ally in the “war on terror”. We strongly believe that he should not be graced and honoured by an appearance in such a high-level meeting in the United States, leave alone as “Africa’s voice”. Africa deserves better! For those near Los Angeles , California area the Ethiopian-American Enterprenuers Association(EAEA) have grunted funds to cover round trip air ticket from Los Angeles to Pittsburgh and back to LAX on 09/26. If interested contact any of the sponsors near you.The sponsors are listed Tessema Dosho Shifferaw, Charlie Zawde, Elias Negash; Agonafer Shiferaw, Elias Wondimu; Leah Niederstadt and Asqual Teferi. For Exact departure time please contact Tel: 213-365-6651 Ext. 100
    Fax: 213 365 6670
